Activities

Birdwatching

A variety of habitats makes Gower a haven for birdwatchers. Some of the species you may see include buzzards, herons, kingfishers and egrets.

Fishing

Gower is well known for its superb bass fishing, but there are also many other species of fish to be caught - including blue sharks, conger eel, rays and trigger fish. Oxwich and Llangenith are popular places for fishing, but you can also book trips out of Swansea.

Gower Boat Trips

A Euphoria Sailing Boat in Gower. Boat trips are a great way to see the fabulous coast line of Gower from a different perspective - and you may also get to see the seals at Worm's Head. Check out Euphoria Sailing for a selection of different boat trips available, as well as a wide variety of Watersports at Oxwich beach.

Surfing

Gower's beaches attract surfers from all over the UK - but you don't have to be an expert. Llangenith is a safe, sandy beach, and when small is ideal for learning - and, handily, a surf school runs lessons from the beach (see the Gower Surfing School for more information). Meanwhile, you can hire boards and wetsuits at PH's superb surf shop.

Walking

Gower has an enourmous selection of superb walks. For just a small selection of what is available check out our Gower Walks page.

Flying

Hang gliding and paragliding are both popular activities in Gower. Rhossili cliffs are probably the favourite location for the sports, both because of the tremendous views available and because of the thermal currents providing an uplift for those launching. Check out the South Wales Soaring Club's page on Rhosilli for more information.

Ponytrekking

Horse riding offers a superb way to see the Gower, with a choice of long beach gallops or cliff top rides. Sadly, there are not as many trekking centres on the Gower as used to be, but you can still visit the Parc-le-Breos Riding Centre (01792 371636) or the Copley Stables on Clyne Common (01792 234428). Temporary livery options also exist!
